"A fun weekend in NYC , starting with taking Friday off from my job as a heavy equipment operator at Ft. Meade Army base to travel to Jersey City, N.J. for the recording of this live set at the WFMU studios. It was my first time seeing the new studios since their move from East Orange, and I wore my vintage Kaz-designed WFMU t-shirt for the occasion. I took some time before the session to go down to the Hudson River docks and look at the skyline where the World Trade Center once stood. Seeing the "ghost towers" gave me quite a chill, and I'm not the only person who has seen them, right where they used to be. The session was fun and we played a great set, and then I headed into the city and over to Billy Syndrome and Evil Jim's apartment in Williamsburg and crashed on their couch, my home away from home since leaving my Brooklyn apartment a couple years earlier. Saturday was spent rehearsing for our gig that night at the Sidewalk Cafe on the lower east side, and I spent the rest of the weekend eating, visiting friends, and even did a little recording before heading home. Traveling down the turnpike and I-95 I was feeling on top of the world until I came home to a half empty apartment and a note from my girlfriend saying she had left me and would explain later. Our set was broadcast Wednesday on Brian Turners show , and I recorded it and never listened to it again until now." Mike Bell 10/3/2002
